Exercise Psychology
Course Overview
Exercise psychology is an approach that focuses on the research, theory, and practices that can be used to improve performance in clients undertaking aerobic and strength training.
Understanding how psychological factors can impact a client’s performance and how participation in physical activity can affect a client’s psychological development can help a personal trainer to determine the most appropriate type of exercise and exercise programs to prescribe. Exercise psychology can also give a personal trainer an understanding of how different social and psychological interventions can affect their clients’ wellbeing and help them understand how best to motivate them to commence and continue their training.
Throughout this subject, we will examine the application of psychological principles to the promotion of physical activity and exercise, the psychological and emotional consequences of physical activity and exercise, and the psychological, emotional, and health-related consequences of a lack of exercise.
