Course Overview

Exercise science underpins everything we do as personal trainers. From determining the current health status of a client to exercise testing and prescription, your knowledge of exercise science will allow you to provide the best type of fitness-related services to your clients.

In this course, we will review the basic principles of exercise science and build on these concepts by developing a more advanced understanding of the anatomy and physiology related to exercise. We will examine the mechanisms responsible for the adaptations of the various body systems (e.g. cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, and musculoskeletal) as a result of the exercise and training interventions that we may use when working with clients.

Furthermore, we will look at the science and programming requirements behind helping clients achieve health and fitness goals related to body composition, fitness, and health.
